Growth and Survival of Cholera Vibrio in Relation to pH

چکیده
The pH of the medium is of vital importance to any bacterium for its growth in that medium. For any bacterium there is an optimal narrow range of pH promoting vigorous growth, and a wider range on either side of the optimum within which growth occurs less vigorously. On the other hand, metabolic processes associated with the growth of a bacteria in any fluid medium cause changes in the pH of the medium which again affects further growth and survival of the bacteria in that medium. Thus there are, for any bacterium, an optimal pH for growth, an optimal pH for survival, and two extremes of pH at which acid or alkali toler-

Rapid Detection of Vibrio Cholera by a Coagglutination Complex using Staphylococcus aureus Including Protein A
Introduction: Vibrio cholera is a gram-negative bacterium that causes cholera which is an acute diarrheal illness. Cholera outbreak mostly happens in hot seasons when the bacteria reproduce rapidly in water contaminated with feces. Severe diarrhea and mortality have been the prevalent symptoms of cholera which affect the hygienic status and economic features of humans during centuries. There is...

Backgrounds and Objectives: True cholera with typical clinical features nearly always occurs by serologic groups O1 and O139 but the non-O1 group can produce a disease with same clinical characteristic sporadically. According to the important of climate and environmental conditions in the distribution and abundance of Vibrio cholera, in this study, the distribution of the serologic group was ev...
متن کاملSimple and Accurate Detection of Vibrio Cholera Using Triplex Dot Blotting Assay
Cholera outbreak is more common in developing countries. The causative agent of the disease is Vibrio cholerae strains O1 and O139. Traditional diagnostic testing for Vibrio is not always reliable, because Vibrio can enter a viable but non cultivable state. Therefore, nucleic acid-based tests have emerged as a useful alternative to traditional enrichment testing. In this investigation, a...
متن کاملGrowth Inhibitory Effect of Lactocare on Vibrio cholerae
Background and Objective: Acute microbial diarrheal diseases are the major public health problems in the developing countries. People affected by diarrheal diseases have the lowest financial resources and poorest hygienic facilities. Children under five, primarily in Asian and African countries, are mostly the subjects affected by microbial diseases transmitted through water.<b...
